Whole Glory

This morning I was intrigued to see a queue lining up outside the art gallery across the road from our office. It was going right through Henrietta Street and out towards Leicester Square.

To see what the hype was all about I walked into the gallery to find a fairly empty room, apart from a few sketches on the walls and a girl sitting on a stool. At first glance she seemed as if she was part of an installation carrying some profound message, which I hadn’t quite figured out yet… It was only after speaking with a journalist that I noticed the girl had her arm going through the wall. In doing this, she had given permission to Scott Campbell, a celebrity tattoo artist, to tattoo whatever he felt her forearm needed (not sure if this was the selling point?! – but for free!).

The project is called ‘Whole Glory’ and is part of Campbell’s idea to offer people to ‘not take their physical selves so seriously’. Which, perhaps surprisingly, turned out to be an appealing offer to the array of people outside our office this morning, all hoping to win a chance to sit on the chair.
